WARD, Francis V. “Franny”, 65, of West Roxbury, formerly of Mission Hill, June 1, 2012. Beloved son of the late Arthur Ward, Sr. and the late Mary (Fitzsimmons) Ward. Loving brother to the late Mary Sullivan and her late husband Leo of Jamaica Plain, the late Arthur “Sonny” Ward, Jr. of West Roxbury, the late Dorothy Higgins and her husband Brian of Chelmsford, Margaret Sullivan and her husband Donald of Quincy, Michael “Skipper” Ward of West Roxbury, and Virginia Melvin and her husband Paul of Rockland. Devoted ‘father’ to Peter Gray Jr. and his wife Colleen of Walpole, and cherished Papa to their children Ryan, Madison and Lily. Also survived by many adoring nieces, nephews and close friends. A veteran of the USAF, Franny had a longstanding career with the Commonwealth of MA’s Public Health Police Unit and the MBTA, where he retired. He was a longtime member of the Mission Hill American Legion Post #327 and the Boston Elks Lodge #10. A graduate of Mission High School and basketball standout, Franny spent much of his life serving the community and youth of Mission Hill as a coach, mentor and friend to many. Franny was known as the “Basketball Guru” and touched the lives of countless people with his generous and caring ways. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by many in the Mission Hill and surrounding communities. Funeral from the William J. Helen C. (Costigan) Daley, 65, of Easton, formerly of Mission Hill, passed away surrounded by her loving family, at home, on Friday October 5, 2012. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Paul J. Daley, to whom she was wed for the past 38 years.
Born in Boston, MA on April 7, 1947, she was a dear daughter of the late John F. and Mary Patricia (Sweeney) Costigan.
Helen grew up in the Mission Hill section of Boston. She was educated in Mission Hill Schools and was a 1964 graduate of Mission High. She furthered her studies and was a graduate of the Boston Business School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Daley had been employed by Verizon at both the companies Boston and Taunton locations. She retired after 20 years as an administrative assistant. She had formerly worked for the Department of Public Welfare and at New England Life, both in Boston.
An Easton resident for the past 10 years, Helen was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield and while residing in Mission Hill was a longtime parishioner of the Mission Church.
Helen’s family was the love of her life. She enjoyed walking the beaches of Marshfield, listening to music and could always be found on the dance floor.
In addition to her beloved husband and best friend Paul, she is survived by her devoted daughters, Jessica M. Petrillo and her husband Tony of Easton and Paula J. Daley of Easton. The dear sister of Mary Pat Kaszanek and her husband James of Rockland, Carol M. Dodge of Pembroke and her late husband Albert Dodge, and Jean Hunt and her husband James of Dorchester, she is also survived by her 4 cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Natalie, Adriana and Olivia, and was the sister-in-law of Bernadette Scott and her husband Charles of Virginia, James Daley and his wife Ellen of West Roxbury, Margaret Heraty of Canton and was the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday October 10th at a time to be announced in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 9th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Greater Walk for Autism, C/O Team Speak up for Colin, Walk Donations Department, 5455 Wilshire Blvd, #2250, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

BATH, Helen R. (Schena) of Mission Hill, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2012 at the Brookline Health and Care Center in Brookline, MA. Helen was born June 20, 1917 in Revere, Massachusetts, the daughter of Michael and Antoinette Schena. She was united in marriage to the late George B. Bath. She was also pre-deceased her sisters Eleanor Barrett, Margret DeAngeles, Dorothy Schena and brothers Alfred Schena, Louis Schena and Amelio (Bud) Schena. A consummate mother and homemaker, Helen (Nana) was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she cooked many of her favorite recipes (eggplant parm) for her family and friends. In addition she loved her New England Baptist Hospital where she worked for of over 20 years.
She is survived by her children and spouses; Michael (Lois) Bath, Simi Valley CA, James (Katherine) Bath, Boston MA and Richard (Susan) Bath, Brockton MA; 8 loving grandchildren, Michael, Deborah, Sheryl, James, Jeffery, Denise, Sam and Jonathan. and 16 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rita (Schena) Barter, North Port FL, Lillian (Schena) Kelly, Methuen MA: 3 brothers Carl (Phyllis) Schena, Castaic CA, Anthony Schena, Quincy, MA and Richard (Ruth) Schena, Alexandria, VA

Munzert, Irene (Galvin) Born May 4, 1938 in Boston, MA, passed away peacefully at her sister’s home after a brief illness. Surrounded by her family and friends on November 2, 2013. Irene grew up as one of eight children on Mission Hill in Roxbury, MA. She graduated from Mission H.S. later working for Verizon and Clair Motor Group of West Roxbury for many years. She was one of a kind, strong, determined, fun loving and in possession of a wonderful sense of humor. She spent many of her later years playing dress up with her great nieces, watching her great nephews run around the yard, spending time with her friend Susie and babysitting her dog Gibson. She was so happy to be with her sister Evelyn for the past four years and to have her son Bobby closer over the past year. Irene is survived by her son Robert Munzert, Jr. of Hull and Essex, Her siblings Evelyn Galvin Mears and her friend Joseph Luna of Hamilton, Eugene Galvin and his wife Mary of Virginia, Richard Galvin and his friend Corrine of Hyde Park, William Galvin and wife Susan of Hyde Park. Sisters in Law Betty Galvin, Marie Galvin and Maureen Galvin. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as her very special great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Irene Galvin of Mission Hill, her brothers, Kenneth Galvin of Mission Hill, John “Honey” Galvin of Woburn and Gerard Galvin of South Boston. Her sister in law, Arlene Galvin of Roslindale and her former husband, Robert Munzert, BPD. Funeral from the William J.
